Best day-off activities: SLEEP. Netflix, hanging out with co-residents, walking my dog, traveling
Did you have a previous life before medicine? I taught English to Japanese businessmen, prior to that was an EMT, and prior to that worked for a program that setup special needs highschoolers with mentors in healthcare for exposure to job opportunities
Future goals & dreams: Work as an ED doc in an underserved community. Long term: start an INGO org and open several clinics abroad. Also become a U.S. Health Corps Commissioned Officer
Best place you’ve traveled: Costa Rica first, Ethiopia second best
Best meal you’ve ever eaten: Any food after hours of not eating tastes glorious. Otherwise, anything Japanese
Favorite book: “En la ardiente oscuridad” by Antonio Buero Vallejo and “Sarafina” my mother’s first authored children’s book
Favorite movie: The Fifth Element (but I have one in every genre)
Special interests within emergency medicine: Disaster medicine, international medicine, public health/civil rights/health policy
Random fact about yourself: I’m an identical twin
