Why did you choose to work/teach at Kaweah? Lots of support services, thankful patients, great pathology, supportive partners, wonderful weather
Previous life before medicine: I was a nurse for 10 years while I finished my prerequisites and medical school. I enjoyed it but I like being a doctor more. I love teaching and I was associate program director in Chicago for Presence Resurrection EM program for 5 years. I worked at one of the hospitals in the Presence system for 20 years – Our Lady of the Resurrection which no longer exists
Best meal you’ve ever eaten: Nobu restaurant in Las Vegas. I have eaten there twice with residents from Kaweah’s EM program while we have been attending conferences
Special interests within emergency medicine:Â Pharmacotherapy and the AKAs for Professional milestones
Future goals:Â To travel more. I like to stay in historic hotels. Death Valley Resort is on my list for this year. I want to make it to the Broadmoor in Colorado Springs. Within the next 18 months I would like to tour Italy. Professionally, I would like to staff all the hospitals in my area with graduates from my program and have them grow the emergency medicine community here.
